Just days after revealing her debut solo album, Jennie has dropped the music video for her latest track, “Zen.”
On Friday (Jan. 24), the 29-year-old BLACKPINK star surprised fans with the release of the visually captivating video, directed by the talented Cho Gi-Seok. The three-and-a-half-minute production takes viewers on a journey through cosmic dreamscapes, highlighting Jennie in a variety of looks that blend elegance and futuristic vibes.
“Nobody gon’ move my soul, gon’ move my aura, my matter/ Nobody gon’ move my life, gon’ touch my goal, my matter/ Nobody gon’, all this power make them scatter/ No, nobody gon’ touch my soul, gon’ match my flow, like damn,” Jennie sings passionately in the track.
Earlier this week, Jennie announced that her highly anticipated debut solo album, Ruby, will officially drop on March 7. The album features a stellar lineup of collaborators, including Childish Gambino, Dua Lipa, Doechii, Dominic Fike, FKJ, and Kali Uchis.
Ruby will include 15 tracks, such as her October 2024 hit single “Mantra,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart and No. 3 on the Billboard Global 200.
In a candid conversation with Billboard, Jennie shared insights into the personal and emotional journey of creating Ruby. “It’s frustrating to always feel like, ‘I can’t say anything,’” she confessed about her work on the project that began in early 2024. “But I feel like I’m almost there.” Reflecting on the struggles she encountered, she added, “I’ll admit, I don’t do well with time.”
“Zen” wasn’t the only surprise Jennie had in store. On Friday, she also announced The Ruby Experience, a three-city tour to celebrate her album release. The tour will kick off in Los Angeles (March 6), followed by stops in New York City (March 10) and Seoul (March 15).
“Intense and intimate as I like it,” Jennie teased fans in her Instagram announcement.
