With its unique ‘package design’ and commitment to being ‘completely vegan,’ the brand has garnered significant attention. True to its name and distinctive packaging, Muzigae Mansion aims to transform vanities into galleries with concept-driven products. Here’s the full story behind the ambitious launch of Muzigae Mansion.

The name Muzigae Mansion represents a space that embodies the brand’s core value of ‘diversity.’ It also symbolizes each person’s makeup space, personalized and curated like an interior filled with individual taste. Interview with Muzigae Mansion

Muzigae Mansion started with a sense of ‘looseness’—could you elaborate?

"Toward the end of the year before last, I began to feel a sense of stagnation in the industry. Many brands seemed to have lost their unique concepts, chasing trends to the point where everything started to look the same, and freshness was nowhere to be found. I wanted to create a brand with a unique, intriguing concept that would inspire a sense of wonder from the first moment. Meeting the current team allowed us to bring that vision to life, and we launched Muzigae Mansion as a fresh new challenge."

What inspired the choice to make Muzigae Mansion a vegan brand?

"While preparing the brand, we gave a lot of thought to our values and beliefs. We kept asking ourselves, ‘What ethical responsibility can we consistently uphold within our means?’ The answer was ‘vegan.’ While producing vegan products doesn’t constitute a grand act of animal protection, we believe it contributes one small step in the right direction. If vegan brands are embraced and become mainstream, it could lead to more research and development in this area across the industry. Gradually, this approach could enable growth without sacrifice, and we believe veganism will eventually be more than just ours—it will become a natural and expected direction."

 

Your liquid package design resembling paint has garnered significant attention. What’s the story behind its creation?

"We often hear that our tint products resemble paint, but the design motif we actually used is crumpled glass. We found the paradoxical shape of smooth, unyielding glass formed into a crumpled tube to be intriguing. We initially developed the design using real glass, but due to concerns about practicality and safety, we faced challenges in mass production. After multiple design iterations, we arrived at the current Object Liquid package."


The journey to mass production has been anything but easy. Can you share your experience?

"From the very first steps toward mass production, nothing came easily. We met with numerous manufacturers, but often heard that our design was theoretically impossible to develop. After creating prototypes, we faced multiple failures and had to change materials. Since our design was unprecedented, we couldn’t use standard production lines and had to assemble everything manually, which presented many challenges. It took us eight months just to develop the packaging."

You mentioned that the Object Liquid is not limited by warm or cool tones. Can you elaborate on that?

"While everyone has their inherent personal color, our philosophy is about encouraging people to freely choose the colors they want to wear rather than strictly adhering to their skin tones. We believe that personal colors can be offset by elements like base makeup, lenses, and hair color. The increasing specialization of personal colors allows people to find shades that suit them well, but it can also feel limiting. Instead of categorizing our products by tone, we develop colors based on the characteristics of the season or the mood of the concept. If we have the opportunity, we’d like to create our own channel to share tips on how to offset personal colors and use contrasting shades harmoniously. That said, if we had to recommend tones, we suggest ‘009 Perception’ for cool tones and ‘003 Stranger’ for warm tones."


Recently, Muzigae Mansion launched its second collection, the Mouar Palette.

The Mouar Palette is inspired by the gentle ripples of water. Its packaging showcases the waves of water that change with the angle of light, while the 12-shade palette contains a variety of textures and colors that deliver a subtle wash of color to the eyes. The Mouar Palette will introduce different colors each season, and the first shade released, ‘01 Greenerie,’ captures the vibrancy of spring. The green accent colors blend beautifully with the skin tone, featuring a sophisticated and mysterious ash olive hue that provides an elegant and understated finish when applied to the eyes.

 

What do you consider most important when creating a product?

"The most important aspect for us is ‘appeal.’ In the product development process, we rely heavily on intuition and sensibility, aside from technical considerations. We want our products to provide the same joy one experiences when encountering art, not just serve as a means of application. Therefore, we focus significantly on how the product will resonate with customers, how it will complement them, and whether it captures their attention and appears truly appealing."

 

Where do you primarily draw your inspiration from?

"I draw inspiration from everyday moments. I deeply observe the ordinary and familiar things that people often overlook, aiming to recreate them from a fresh perspective. I want to convey a sense of novelty using materials that are easily understood by many, so I start from a place of simplicity."

 

What is the ultimate value or motto that Muzigae Mansion pursues?

"Our motto is ‘Confidence by choice.’ We aim to empower individuals to gain confidence through choosing Muzigae Mansion. While true beauty inherently includes confidence, maintaining a confident attitude can be challenging for everyone. We want our unique and confident vibe to make users feel special every time they use our products. We strive to showcase a variety of colors that resonate with the name Muzigae Mansion, and we will continue to embrace originality and innovation without pause."
